What I was Feeling when Daisy came to Tea
I saw Daisy at Nick's house for the first time since I had five years previously in 1917. When Daisy showed up for tea, I suddenly felt a rush of nerves. I began to sweat profusely, so I stepped outside. It was raining very hard, but I didn't care. I took a lap around Nick's house, while getting drenched from the rain. As I was walking, I was picturing the time that I first met Daisy five years ago. At the time, I was a young military officer in Louisville, preparing to fight in World War I. I immediately fell in love with Daisy's beauty, grace, and charm. I lied to Daisy and told her that I was a rich graduate from Oxford to convince her that I was good enough for her. This lie was enough to convince Daisy to wait for me. She promised that she would be there when I returned from war. As I knocked on Nick's door, I replayed in my head, over and over again, Daisy saying goodbye to me. Nick answered the door and I walked in. Daisy and I locked eyes, resulting in a period of silence. As we sipped our tea, not much words were said. I even got so nervous that I knocked over Nick's clock. Nick stepped outside, leaving Daisy and I alone. A spark suddenly occurred between us, and it felt like 5 years ago when we were happier than ever. Daisy and I began laughing and making jokes and filling each other in on the last few years. We shared a moment that I could and would relive at any moment of my life.
