What I was Thinking When Daisy Hit Myrtle

It had been such a crazy day. It started off with lunch at the Buchanan's. Things got a little heated and you could feel the tension in the air. Daisy got upset and suggested that we all go into town. Tom insisted on driving my car, even though I told him it was almost out of gas. I took Daisy in his car, and he took Nick and Jordan. Tom stopped to get gas on the way to town at Wilson's Garage, and Daisy and I sped right by them. When we got there, we booked a room to cool off on the hottest day of the year. This was when Tom and I began to bicker about Daisy. The bickering turned into yelling, and the yelling turned into punching. I told Tom that Daisy never loved him, and that she only ever loved me. On the way back, Daisy was driving my car, while Tom drove the others in his. When we got to the Valley of Ashes and approached Wilson's Garage, there was a woman in the road waving her arms in the air. Daisy was still upset about the fight that Tom and I had, so she didn't see the woman standing there. The next thing I knew, my windshield was cracked and Myrtle Wilson was laying on the road, dead on impact. Daisy was freaking out so I told her to just drive away before anyone saw that it was us. The first thought that came to my mind was that if anyone had seen that it was my car, I would take the blame. There was no way that I would let the love of my life get accused for killing Myrtle Wilson. When we got home, I waited outside all night to make sure that Daisy was okay.
