Why I Moved to West Egg
I moved to West Egg because of Daisy. I moved into a mansion across from hers to be closer to her. From my yard, I have a beautiful view of Daisy's mansion. My favorite thing to look at is the green light on her dock. Green is Daisy's favorite color, so green is my favorite color too. I have loved Daisy since I first laid eyes on her. Daisy is perfection in my eyes. At a point in my life, I had no money, and there was no way that I could impress Daisy and make her fall in love with a poor boy. Luckily, I knew somebody who could make me rich. Meyer Wolfsheim was the go-to guy. I made my fortune illegally, but I didn't care. All I cared about was impressing Daisy. So I bought a huge mansion on the water of West Egg, across from Daisy's mansion on the water of East Egg. A couple days ago, I gained a new neighbor. His name was Nick Carraway. We got to talking, and I found out that Daisy was his cousin. I took this information to my advantage and begged my new neighbor Nick to set up a tea date with Daisy. I was afraid that if Daisy knew I would be there, she would not come, so I told Nick to tell her it would just be the two of them. When Daisy showed up, I got way too nervous and hid in Nick's house. I was thinking about the time that Daisy and I were first together. We had a fling years and years ago, but I had never forgotten it. Daisy promised me that she would wait for me while I was at war, but she didn't. Instead, she married Tom Buchanan. Anyways, that was the last time that I had seen Daisy, the most beautiful person in the entire world, and now she was here, in West Egg. Daisy and I were awkward at first, but we soon warmed up to each other. I took Daisy over to my mansion. She absolutely loved it. Her favorite part of the tour was when I showed her my fancy shirts. She absolutely adored them, just as I absolutely adored her.
